Race 9 – Northumberlandia Trail 5k – Sun 13th August 2017

Today's race saw 24 Blyth runners, 20 of which were in the Grand Prix take on the Lady of Northumberland 5K Trail race. The skies were clear and the Sun was out. After signing in and collecting our numbers we headed to the start area where a race brief was held. The race started at 10:30 AM with Blyth taking up the front of the pack, off we went, the first hundred or so metres was over the grass but that didn't stop us lot, in through the entrance where we completed a lap of the outside before heading onto the “body of the lady”.

This is where it became tough especially the inclines but as the saying goes “what goes up must come down” and it did before heading up again. The last half mile wasn't too bad although had a cheeky little hill in it, running back towards the entrance and heading over the grass towards the finish line where the timekeepers manually logged our number and time. After signing out we were handed our well-deserved medals T-shirts and a bottle of water.

The first male back for Blyth was Paul Whalley with a fantastic time of 18:41 closely followed by Peter Brown at 19:29. Both Paul and Peter received a prize for overall position of 1st and 3rd male 

The First Ladies back were Leanne Herron in with a time of 23:44 and not long after came Sandra Watson at 24:51.
