The twenty eighth running of
the Top House Autumn Relays was held on Wednesday the 22nd of October 2014. Although a cool breezy night, the
persistent drizzle from earlier in the day had fortunately stopped, so, unlike
last year, no one got wet. A total of
57 runners collected their numbers from Liz at the start in the Kitty Brewster
Industrial Estate, meaning 19 complete teams taking part - a new record for the
Autumn Relays.
Congratulations go to the
winning team of Claire Mason, Alice Dungworth and Joseph
Woods, who started his leg in first place and managed to slightly increase the
teams lead on the last leg. Brad
was the fastest on the night with 12:12, and Alice, not satisfied with being in
the winning team, was also the quickest female with a time of 15:03. (Alice was
also in the winning team from the Junior relays held a few weeks earlier).
With 13 runners taking part in
the Autumn Relays for the first time this gives a total of 317 different
competitors over the years, whereas Mr consistent Steve Gillespie continues
with his incredible record of having completed all 28. Brad's time of 12:12
puts him 10th on the all time list for the "new" course and Jake just
misses out on being in the top 20.
Thanks to Kevin, Dave, Andi Capper and all their marshals/helpers for ensuring the
event continues to run as smoothly as ever.
