The twenty ninth running of the
Top House Autumn Relays was held on Wednesday the 28th of October 2015. After a very wet day the rain had
fortunately stopped before the race began leaving a calm, slightly misty but
surprisingly warm evening for the 51 runners (17 teams) taking to the start
line. Although slightly down on
last year's record of 19 teams it was still the fifth best turn out in the
history of the event. Whether
because of the good conditions or the thought of not wanting to let their
team-mates down, a remarkable 44 runners ran faster than expected.
Congratulations go to the
winning team of Phillippa Moore, Scott Arries and Leanne Herron, after a storming run by Phillippa on the first leg, newcomer Scott took over on leg
2 with a 20 second lead and extended this lead so Leanne took over on the final
leg with just over a minute in hand over her nearest chaser. Although being gradually caught by
runner of the night Jake Jansen, Leanne had plenty in reserve as she led her to
victory with a 36 second cushion over team H.
Jake Jansen was the fastest on
the night with 12:07, putting him ninth fastest on the overall list. Leanne, not satisfied with being in the
winning team, was also the quickest female with a time of 14:45, which also
gives her the female veteran record beating Helen's 14:57 from 2007.
With 12 runners taking part in
the Autumn Relays for the first time this gives a total of 329 different
competitors over the years, with the ever reliable Steve Gillespie continuing
with his incredible record of having completed all 29.

Andi Capper and all their marshals/helpers for ensuring the event continues to
run as smoothly as ever.
