Club Handicap Race 1997
Even though it was the smallest field
in the history of the event there was still the same amount of commitment and effort from
all who took part. Anne Best started off strongly and kept herself in front of the field
to win well with a bunch of eight runners some two minutes behind. These eight put in a
tremendous finish with Ron Ingram and Frank Aniolkowski just managing to hold off their
challengers to gain medals.
Dave McKenzie battled through the field from backmarker to fourth place, being the fastest
runner in the event. Dave Morris also did well to become fastest vet. For the ladies,
Jacqui Lumsden was fastest, with Anne Best being the fastest vet, breaking the vets course
record in the process.
My thanks to all who took part, all marshalls especially timekeepers Chris and Robin.
