Snake Lane 10M Pocklington

[Mon 23rd Feb 2009]  There was a great turnout of 30 members running the first Grand Prix race of 2009, The Snake Lane 10 Mile at Pocklington near York on Sunday 22nd Feb.  A cool, gusty breeze met the runners on the outward stretch of this mostly flat course round the villages and narrow lanes surrounding Pocklington.  With the breeze behind for the final 3M homeward stretch, a good few pb’s were recorded.  First Blyth runner to finish was Robbie Barkley in 35th place in a time of 1:00:27, followed closely by Peter Brown in a pb of 1:00:59 for 45th overall, these two helped the men to finish a respectable 15th in the team event.  For the ladies, first home was Leanne Herron, 22nd lady and 203rd overall in a time of 1:09:45, a staggering pb by over 10 minutes, the ladies team finished a fantastic 5th place.  Special mention must also go to Dave Logan (160th in 1:07:40), another who slashed his pb by over 10 minutes, Alison Lowes who knocked over 4 minutes and Julie Lemin who knocked over a minute off their pb’ and to Cath Young who finished 3rd O50 lady (263rd in 1:13:30).
