Northumberland Sportshall County Trials

Northumberland Athletics Network recently held their Sportshall Trials day at the Sporting Club, Cramlington. Youngsters from Tynedale, Blyth and Morpeth all attended and were hoping to get selected to represent Northumberland at the Regional Final at the Seaburn Centre in January.

There were two age categories, U11’s and u13’s and there was a good representation from Blyth amongst the girls but a disappointing turn out from the boys. The format of the competition is to use all the indoor equipment and everybody had a try at the events which included shot put, triple jump, long jump, vertical high jump and various relays and running races. The two stars of the speed bounce were Erin Scott and Alice Dungworth who tied with an impressive 70 in 30 seconds, while in the parents event Dale Smith managed 63.

So hopefully, the following will be representing Northumberland against Tees Valley, Durham, Tyne and Wear and who knows, some may go onto the National Final at Birmingham.
