Start Fitness Harrier League 2011/12 Race 1 – Cramlington

[9-Oct-2011]  Saturday the 8th of October saw Blyth Running Club host the first Start Fitness Harrier League meeting of the 2011/2012 season at East Cramlington Nature Reserve.  A huge turnout of over 700 runners took part in the various races throughout the day, with both the Men's and Women's senior races showing a good increase in numbers over the previous year.  The undulating course was somewhat easier this year after the recent dry spell.  Conditions were favourable on the day with the forecasted rain holding off until the event had finished.

Just over 350 runners set off in the senior men's race, with Robbie Barkley once again being the first Blyth finisher over the 9.6k course, which was won by Phillip Aiston of Wallsend Harriers.  The senior men find themselves 3rd in division 3 after this first event.
