East Northumberland Schools X-C

[Tue 11th Dec]

East Northumberland Schools held their annual Cross Country trials at Woodhorn Colliery on Monday 10th December, the first 16 in each race then qualify to represent East Northumberland at the County Championships at Temple park, South Shields in January.

Several Blyth juniors were running in the trials and a large percentage of them qualified for the next round.

In the minor boys race Taylor Glover had a good run to finish second.  Then in the junior boys race Daniel Tait finished sixth.  There was more success in the junior girls race, with Alice Dungworth fourth, just ahead of Erin Scott in fifth, Alice Gittens and Lauren Robson were also in the top sixteen but exact positions are not known.  The intermediate boys race saw 6 of our juniors qualifying, Chris Sheffer (2nd), Matty Jackson (3rd), Joseph Woods (6th), James Young (10th), Joseph Dungworth (11th) and Mark Nicholson (13th), it was a particularly good run by James who is in the younger of the 2 year age group.  New junior member Joey Orange had already qualified for the County Champs in the intermediate boys category in the City of Newcastle trials held earlier in the month.

The last race of the day saw Charlie Hedley finish third and Lydia Lindsay finish seventh in the intermediate girls race.
