Terry O'Gara Memorial 5K

[Tue 24th Apr]

Despite a number of other attractions on a bright, sunny Sunday morning (London Marathon, Trail Races, going to church etc.), nearly 200 runners turned up for this race in memory of the Wallsend chairman who died recently after a short illness. 11 Blyth runners lined up ready for the start of the race in ideal conditions. The course was 1 ¾ laps that incorporated a stretch of the Hadrian's Way cycle route, in effect an extended version of the route used for the Gordon Smith Relays.

The winner of the race was Wallsend Harriers Yared Hagos in a ridiculous time of 14:49, couldn’t manage that if I’d used a bike! First Blyth runner was Sam Dodd (47th) in 18:52. Full details, along with some photos are available on the Wallsend website.
