VAANEE Track&Field Update

[Mon 2nd July] 

 

Reports from VAANEE track and field league meets 2 and 3 plus championships at Monkton stadium, Jarrow.

It is great to see that for the first time Blyth ladies have a team in the league.

 

28th May - league meet no. 2

Heather Christopher, Hayley Masterman and Helen Morris all competed in the 2nd league meeting.

 

ladies race - 1500m

5th - Helen - 6:01 - 3rd over 45

7th - Hayley - 6:12 - 3rd over 35

the race was won by Alison Dargie of Elswick Harriers in 5:07

 

800m

4th - Heather - 2:52 - 2nd over 40

the race was won again by Alison Dargie in 2:32

 

200m

4th - Heather - 33.1 - 2nd over 40

race was won by Amanda Edwards of Sunderland harriers in 29.8

 

long jump

4th - Hayley - 2.94m - 2nd over 35

 

the Blyth ladies team finished on 27 points in 3rd place

 

11th June - league meet no 3.

Heather Barrass, Hayley Masterman and Helen Morris all competed in the 3rd league meeting.

5th - Hayley - 6:44.6 - 1st over 35

Katie Jones from NSP won in 6:04.4

1st - Heather - 70.6 - 1st over 35

1st - Heather - 1.20m

 

Long jump

1st - Hayley - 2.81m

 

After the 3rd league match - Blyth ladies are currently lying in second place with 51 points behind South Shields.

 

The VAANEE T&F Championships were held last Saturday 23rd June at Monkton stadium.

 

Helen won silver in the 400m and 3000m

 

Only 2 more league matches remain - 2nd July and 16th July - with events that include: 300m, 800m 3000m, long jump, triple jump, hammer, javelin, discus and shot.  The 5000m and 10,000m track championships take place on Saturday 8th September.
