Wallington 10k

[Mon 10th Sep]

4 runners from Blyth completed in the Run Northumberland Wallington 10K on Sunday 9th September 2012 with warm conditions and a challenging course thwarting any chances of PB’s on the day.

The race started with a fast downhill for the first 2K then flattened out before the 4K mark. PB’s were still possible at this point until ‘4K hill’ appeared, closely followed by ‘5K hill’. From then on, the course climbed gradually to around 8K before the last downhill stretch into a scenic finish in the grounds of Wallington Hall.

First runner back was Jon French who finished in a cracking 18th position from 160 runners with a time of 41:34. Steven French finished in 41st position with 45:41, Dave Potts just back from his holidays ran a conservative 50:11 to finish in 70th position. Davina Lonsdale finished in 90th position (18th lady) with a time of 52:34.

A good ‘hilly’ 10K race, all on roads – a definite for the diary next year!
