Weekend Round Up Oct 6/7th

[Tue 9th Oct]

Blyth members were scattered far and wide last weekend, with some opting for rather more demanding events than the Cumbrian Half Marathon which was the penultimate race in this year's Grand Prix competition (see separate report).

First in action were the juniors, with a minors cross-country event taking place at Bedewell Park, Jarrow on Saturday.  Blyth had two juniors competing, Daisy Smith who finished 13th in the U11 girls race and Josh Fiddaman who continues his amazing start to the X-C season by making it 3 wins from 3 by winning the boys U11 race.

Moving to the Sunday and the seniors, Iain Singer, Suzanne Hunter, Adele Lonsdale, Julie Lemin and Davina Lonsdale took part in the Kielder Marathon, finishing 90th, 112th, 566th, 705th and 706th respectively in times of 3:30:35, 3:36:40, 4:28:46, 4:42:44 and 4:42:44.

Jake Jansen and Peter Holmback both travelled to Scotland, Jake to Edinburgh for the BUPA Great Edinburgh Run 10k, where he finished a highly creditable 41st in a time of 37:54, and finally Peter, who ventured even further north for the Glencoe Trail Marathon, mostly off-road and with 1608 metres of ascent this even makes Kielder sound easy!  Peter finished 39th in a time of 4:56:16, a few photos are available HERE, (look out for the bright orange top).
