Inter-Counties Schools X-C 2013

Well done to Taylor Glover, Charlie Hedley, Jake Jansen and Calum Storey who all represented Northumberland Schools in the Inter Counties Schools X-C at the Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough on Saturday 9th February. This event brings together the qualifiers from the county trials of Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland and North Yorkshire with, in theory, the top eight back from each county being selected to run for their counties in the National Schools X-C Champs in March. On a pleasantly cool, calm, sunny day all four ran well on the reasonably flat but muddy course. First away was Taylor in the minor boys race, where he finished in a creditable 18th place overall and 8th back for Northumberland, (unfortunately the minors do not have a national championships).

Next away was Charlie in the Intermediate girls race, having a fantastic run she finished 9th overall and 3rd back for Northumberland. Calum and Jake ran in the final event of the day, the senior boys race, with Jake finishing a brilliant 17th overall and 6th for Northumberland and Calum a respectable 37th overall, 13th for Northumberland. On this showing both Charlie and Jake should be representing Northumberland at the National Champs.
