Anne Marie Readshaw Memorial Open

[Tue 16th Apr 2013]

This track and field event held at stadium 2000, Shildon is the traditional opening meet of the season.  This year two of juniors, Charlotte Ramsay and Charlie Hedley, ventured south to give it a go and see how their winter training had been progressing.  In far from ideal conditions (strong gusty wind and rain showers), both came away with pb's and new club records.

Charlotte was first on track in the U17 women's 100m, where she stormed to a new pb and club record of 13.4s, beating her sister Stephs record by 0.1s.  Charlotte then had a long wait of 4 hours before running the U17 women's 200m, and despite a stumble from the blocks and being in the unfavoured inside lane, she again stormed to victory in 27.5s, equalling her pb and own club record.

In between Charlottes races Charlie ran in the combined U17/sen women's 3000m, finishing 7th overall and 2nd U17, recording a time of 11:08.5 and in the process knocking over 50sec off her previous best and improving Helen's club record by almost 15sec.

Well done to both the girls.
