Senior Track & Field Meet 2 – Clairville Stadium, Middlesbrough

[9th-June-2013]

A very depleted combined Blyth/Wallsend team consisting of 13 men and only 4 women travelled to Clairville stadium, Middlesbrough on Sunady 9th June for the second meeting in the Northern Track and Field League.  Despite this low turnout we came away with a highly creditable third place due to many of the athletes taking part in numerous events, in fact at one stage Daniel N'Jai was competing in the discus, triple jump and high jump at the same time.

Only 4 individual victories for the team on the day, Craig Birch in the 400m hurdles 'A' race and the triple jump 'A', Daniel N'Jai in the 400m hurdles 'B' race and Charlotte Ramsay in the 200m 'A' race. There was, however, 3 club records broken.  Daniel recording 11:58.8 in the 3000m s/c to beat Calum's record set in the first meeting by just over 10 seconds, Daniel again in the discus with a throw of 18.51m to better Ken Turnbull's previous record of 17.90m set in 2011 and Charlotte in the 200m with 26.3, just beating the time she set two weeks earlier at the NE track and field champs.

We are currently second in the division after the two meetings so far, behind a very strong combined Middlesbrough&Cleveland/Hartlepool squad.
