2009/2010
The dates for the 2009/10 Winter Series are as below. Please let Ralph or Keith know if you wish to take part and if you are in a team.
All races start 7:15 prompt in Blyth Riverside Business Park
The Winter Series is a series of seven 2.5 mile handicap races for members of Blyth
Running Club only, and is the winter version of the Summer Cup. The main event is
for individuals, with the overall winner being decided on their best 5 results. There
is also a team event in order to provide a bit more competition. The course starts
and finishes in Blyth Riverside Business Park and follows an out and back route through
the business park. The handicapping system allows all ages from the Club to compete
and so seniors and juniors can both take part, with everyone having an equal chance
of victory. Competition is fierce as everyone strives to be first back in order
to obtain a coveted ‘Yellow Ganzie’, which is awarded to the winner of each race.
The
races are held on Wednesday evenings through October to March.

1) The series will consist of seven races.
2) The series is open to club members only.
3) An individuals’ best five races out of seven will count towards their final score.
4) Points will be allocated thus:-
5) The overall winner will be the one with least points from their best 5 races.
6) Each race winner will receive an award.
7) The overall winner will receive an award.
8) One spot prize will be awarded after each race.
9) Anyone completing all seven races will be placed into a draw to receive an award.
10) Teams will consist of six members, with the first four finishers to count.
11) All members of the team with least points over all seven races will receive an award.
12) Minimum age will be 11.
13) Anyone accompanying a runner must run behind the runner and not hinder other competitors.
14) Runners are advised that it is dangerous to run with music equipment and headphones and may not be allowed to run.
15) Reflective or bright kit must be worn.
